Take a Derry Girls Tour with the Everglades Hotel and McComb’s coach travel.
Have you fallen hard for the slice of 90’s comedy gold that is the Derry Girls? I know I have. It could be my excessively sentimental yearning to return to my childhood, listening to my Mum with her strong Northern Armagh accent and phrases, that has me tuning in every week. But even though every house in Ireland can relate, the Derry Girls have established a fan base even further afield in the USA (albeit with subtitles!), making Derry Girls an instant comedy classic worldwide.
If you’re left wondering what all the fuss is about, then (in the immortal words of Ma Mary) catch yourself on. Because there are many reasons you HAVE to watch this show, including Sister Mary’s one line zingers and that perfect 90’s soundtrack that you forgot existed. But for me the star of the show is Derry. With a troubled past Derry, Northern Ireland’s second biggest city, has risen from the ashes and has planted itself firmly onto the tourist maps.
I have experienced a Derry Halloween which is incredible but to get to spend the day in the legend that is Derry as a Derry Girl is an experience not to be missed.
To celebrate the success of the show, Hastings hotels have put together some special experiences, offering you the chance to become a Derry Girl, dine like a Derry Girl or enjoy the complete Derry Girls tour. Don’t worry male fans, you can also avail of the offer, Mister Lavin fully enjoyed accompanying us as an honourary James. Our waiter even dressed up as a Derry Girl!
The Derry Girls Experience
The Derry Girls Experience will depart from the Europa Hotel in Belfast, onboard a luxurious McComb’s coach and gives fans the chance to see some of the filming locations with McCrossan City Tours. Guests will enjoy great banter and craic with lots of interesting facts about the series while hearing about life in the Bogside during the troubles from an expert local guide. See the Guildhall, where President Clinton was welcomed to in the early 90s as portrayed in season two and you’ll also have the chance to take a selfie at the famous Derry Girls Mural.
Then it’s time to go to the Everglades where you will enjoy a famous Derry Girls Afternoon Tea which includes sandwiches, freshly baked scones & breads and a pastry assortment but with a Derry Girls twist – sausage roll baps, fresh cream horns, cone of chips, Tayto cheese and onion sandwiches and a cocktail complete with 90’s garnish. You’ll also get your very own Michelle, the Derry Girls duck to take home with you, before departing back to Belfast onboard the McComb’s coach.
The Derry Girls experience leaves every Saturday from the Europa Hotel in Belfast from November 6th to December 18th and it costs a very reasonable £65 per person.

*DISCLAIMER: We were invited to be the first to experience the Derry Girls Tour by the Hastings Hotel group meaning our tour was complimentary. However all opinions are our own and we are never obliged to write a blog post. We do it because we genuinely loved our time visiting Derry and we would be more than happy to pay for this tour ourselves.

Is this tour still available please? I contacted the hotel and they said they only do the afternoon tea package. Any more info appreciated.
Thanks,

The tour is organised by McComb’s coach travel and not the hotel. Or check with McCrossan City Tours.
